I have been tracking Samsung leaks for weeks now and the picture for this summer's Galaxy Unpacked event is getting clearer by the day. Based on everything that has surfaced so far, this might be Samsung's most ambitious foldable lineup yet, and I am genuinely curious to see how much of it lands in real life.
Foreign media reports suggest the event is happening on July 22 in London. Samsung has not officially confirmed the date or any product details yet, but the volume and consistency of leaks at this point makes the London timing feel reliable. Mark the date.
The headline story this year is not just the regular Z Fold and Z Flip updates. Samsung may be introducing a third foldable model, which would meaningfully expand the lineup beyond the two-product structure it has maintained for years. That alone changes the dynamic of the event.
Starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, rumours point to a wider body design compared to previous generations. The inner folding screen is expected to measure around 7.8 inches and the external screen around 5.4 inches. Dual rear cameras are mentioned in leaks, which would be a departure from the triple-camera setup the series has carried. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 handles processing and the battery sits at 4800mAh. Nothing about pricing has been confirmed for the standard model yet.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the one I am watching most closely. Reports suggest it keeps a similar overall form factor to its predecessor but pushes the internal screen to 8 inches and the external screen to 6.5 inches. Weight is expected to drop by 15 grams, which on a large foldable is a noticeable difference in daily carry. The camera upgrade here is significant if it lands as rumoured: a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto. Battery capacity moves up to 5000mAh and charging jumps from 25W to 45W, which addresses one of the more persistent criticisms of Samsung's foldable lineup. The display is also expected to move closer to a crease-free solution, something the entire foldable category has been working toward. Rumoured starting price for the base 256GB model is $2,199 (roughly ₹1,85,000 at current exchange rates, expect higher after taxes and import duties in India).
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 looks like a more conservative update. A 6.9-inch inner screen and 4.1-inch outer screen are the numbers being cited, and the chip choice is still unsettled between Snapdragon and Exynos depending on the market. The more interesting detail from recent reports is that Samsung is apparently reassessing the Z Flip product line's positioning entirely, which suggests this generation might serve as a transition point rather than a straightforward upgrade cycle.
On the wearables side, Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are both expected at the same event. The big change here is a platform switch to the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, moving away from the Exynos-based solution the watches have used. Local AI capabilities are expected to expand, 5G connectivity is getting an upgrade, and health monitoring accuracy is reportedly improved. For anyone waiting to upgrade from a Watch 6 or Watch 7, this generation might be the right moment.
Samsung's smart glasses are also in the picture. The event may finally bring confirmed pricing, a release date, and proper hardware and feature details for the glasses, which were shown earlier this year without a full commercial announcement.
The full focus of this Unpacked event is clearly on foldables and the question of where Samsung takes the category in the second half of 2026. A third foldable form factor, a near crease-free Ultra model, and a major wearables chip change make this more interesting than a standard yearly refresh. July 22 cannot come soon enough.
